If you are planning to get a taxi from the airport to your final destination then you will easily find the taxi rank outside the arrivals exit on the ground floor. There are always a lot of vehicles lined up there, but during the really hot months there can be a bit of a queue so be prepared to wait for about 15 minutes. They have a good system with a marshall controlling the line to keep it moving.
If you decide to take a taxi when you are leaving Alicante then you will dropped off outside departures on the first floor.
If you are travelling with a family then bear in mind that Spanish taxis can only carry up to four people (including children) so if you want to stay together and need a large boot for all your luggage then you might be better booking a private transfer.
Also taxi frivers do not carry child seats or have restraints fitted, but again these can be provided by a private transfer company if you book in advance and ask for them to be availalable.
Another cheaper option is to book a seat on a shuttle buses where you can book tickets in advance on a shared transfer bus which is slower as it will make a number of stops to drop other passengers off.
Below is a guide on taxi fares to the most popular resorts, and there is also a board by the rank which lists all the prices, but it is still worth checking what is the current change and agreeing the price with the driver before you set off so there are no nasty surprises when you come to pay.
Below is a guide to taxi fares from Alicante Airport to popular nearby resorts. The official taxi service is RADIOTAXI ELCHE who have different types of taxis which can accommodate larger parties and 12 taxis adapted for wheelchair users (which shuld be booked in advance).
They can be easily identified with a green stripe along their side and Elche coat of arms on the doors.
In the high season (1st June-30th September), they have a desk in the arrivals hall open Monday to Friday 10:30-14:30 and 17:30- 21:30 and Saturday 10:00-18:00.
