The new Terminal 1 at Barcelona Airport opened in 2009 and is a large, bright and airy space of more than 544,000 square metres.

It can handle 90 flights an hour, doubling the capacity of Barcelona El Prat Airport to over 55 million passengers per year.

The new T1 has been designed for passengers with reduced mobility ensuring that it is easy to get around with travelators, mechanical ramps, escalators and lifts.

El Corte Inglés has opened a new travel office in La Plaza in T1 arrivals area offering international and domestic package holidays as well as cruise bookings.

The new shopping area has a great selection of cafes/bars and restaurants at Barcelona Airport T1 to choose from ranging from snack bars, coffee shops and restaurants.

Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 Passenger Amenities

T1 offers a business centre, with a gym, hair salon and rest areas, VIP lounges, and a multi-faith chapel. You can access the Internet from anywhere in the terminal through the Wi-Fi network.

Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 VIP Lounges

Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 has three VIP lounges designed to make the waiting time in Barcelona airport more pleasant. They offer the necessary services that let customers choose between spending a few minutes on work or relaxing and disconnecting from the airport hustle and bustle.

Passengers who are not flying in business class can use the VIP lounges on payment of €25,00.

Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 Left Luggage

The left-luggage office is on the ground floor of T1 below La Plaza. Charges for 24 hours or less: €5.80 for a large locker: €5.10 for a medium locker, and €4.50 for the small locker.

Barcelona Airport has several plastic-wrapping machines located in the check-in areas in both terminal T1 and T2 which takes 15 seconds to do the job. But you do need to indicate if you wish the wheels and handle to be left free.

Barcelona airport terminal 1 provides an extra 11,000 public car parking spaces, including short and long-stay spaces as well as VIP parking.

 

Moving between terminals at Barcelona Airport

There is a regular free shuttle bus which runs at seven minute intervals to connecting the two terminals.
