Landing at a strange airport and trying to find you way around is not always easy, so we have put together some information on car hire where you will find all the main rental desks along the main wall to your right of the arrivals area on the ground floor of the main terminal building.

It is easier if you pre-book your hire car in advance as this will save time filling out paperwork at the airport, ensure that you get the make and model you want, enable you to book any extras (child restraints, baby seats, roof racks, etc) and have them fitted beforehand and it also often secures a better deal.

It's an easy drive (under 10km) from the airport into Valencia city centre which only takes about 15 minutes.

If you're going further afield then it has good motorway connections linking Valencia with Madrid and is alsoanother motorway linking Valencia to Barcelona .

Driving Tips

If you are staying in the city centre then some parts are easier to visit on foot, so you don't need to use the car. But if you are driving make sure you know the different colour zones which indicate where to park:

Yellow or red zones are no go areas. If you park there you will get a ticket, or you could be clamped or worse still towed away.
Blue zones can be parked in for a charge (payable at a machine) and limited time. Charges are in force from Monday-Friday 09.00-14.00 and 16.00-21.00,and Saturdays 09.00-14.00.

One other tip---

You cannot use mobile phones whilst driving, unless via Bluetooth, it is illegal
