You will find La Palma Airport 8km south of Santa Cruz on the Canary Island of La Palma. It is right on the coast with a runway close to the sea and parallel with the mountains.
Santa Cruz de La Palma has an airport code SPC and use this to check you are booking flights to the right place, as a common mistake is to confuse it with Palma de Mallorca or Las Palmas on Gran Canaria.
The airport is smaller than its island neighbours of Tenerife (north and South), Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. In 2015 it handled 971.676 passengers with 15.800 flight operations.
Most of the passengers fly in or out from Tenerife , Madrid Barajas, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura with charter flights operating from Germany, Holland and Belgium. Thomsonfly operates charter flights from Gatwick and Manchester in the UK.
Recent building projects include a new control tower and an extended apron to to cope with increased passenger traffic.
Buses run from outside arrivals every hour during the week (less frequently on public holidays and on Saturday and Sundays) to Santa Cruz.
The taxi journey Santa Cruz costs around €12. There are no train services on the island.
If you are hiring a car then access from the airport is via the LP-138 road, which connects with the LP-123. It is easy to find your way around on a road which runs right round the island following the coastline.
