Almeria on the south west coast of mainland Spain has a small modern airport which is near to the city centre (9km).
If it’s your first visit then this is an easy airport to find your way around with both arrivals and departures on the ground floor where you can also watch flights taking off and landing from the terrace which overlooks the runway.
If you are collecting a hire car (whose desks are in the arrivals hall) to get you to your holiday destination then the A7 motorway will get you to a number of resorts along the coast. If you prefer to use one of the companies who are based at Almeria with hire cars in the car park then make sure the rent a car company you select does not have an off airport address.
If you would rather travel by public transport then the bus line 20 outside arrivals will get you into the city centre in about 35 minutes (depending on traffic). It runs from 07:30 to 22:30 at 50 minute intervals Monday to Friday and every 90 minutes from 07:25 to 22:20 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
There is no rail link at the airport but there is a station in the city centre which operates train service to Granada. Seville and Murcia.
Alternatively there is also a rank outside the terminal where there are always taxis lined up and waiting.
You can fly from here to Barcelona, Madrid, Melilla, Palma de Mallorca and Seville in Spain via Vueling, Air Nostrum and Air Berlin airlines or easyJet will get you to and from London Gatwick.
In 2015 Almeria Airport handled 691.488 passengers with 10.277 flight operations. The new terminal has increased the airport's capacity to be able to handle over two million passengers a year.
