There are now a large number of domestic and international fights operating from Bilbao Airport which is just 12km outside the city and is well served by buses and taxis.
There are 36 check-in desks arranged in a fan shape and after you have checked in you get to the departures zone via a wide 5 lane bridge which is 38 metres long. The good news is that there are travelators so you don't have to walk the distance.
Past the security checkpoint is the pre-boarding zone, which is a 300 metre glass corridor on the south side of the terminal building which overlooks the entire airfield. This provides access to the mezzanine level which leads to the telescopic finger shaped remote boarding lounges on the ground floor.
There are twelve boarding gates. Gates 1 to 6 are equipped with fingers on the intermediate floor (1st floor) and gates 7 to 12 are on the ground floor. Access to all the gates is gained via the top floor via five ramps.
Bilbao Airport has a number of restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as duty-free outlets and shops selling cosmetics, electronics, clothing and books.
If you want to book conference facilities or a meeting room contact the airport manager for further information (fax: 0034 944 869 776).
