Asturias is located in NW "Green Spain" which has a cooler climate than the south. The summers are generally warm with lots of sunshine but also expect some rain which can make it feel humid.
The winters are still fairly mild but there are some very cold snaps, especially in the mountains where it can snow any time between November and February.
The region is one of the wettest in Spain with the average annual rainfall is above 900 mm (35.4 in) which increases inland until it is at its highest in the Picos de Europa at 1800 mm (76 in) which also experiences some of the heaviest snowfalls.
Average annual temperatures in the capital Oviedo average about 12.9ºC with the warmest areas near to the coast.
The best months to visit are from June to September when you should experience mild temperatures and clear blue skies. August is the hottest month in this region but with the breeze and occasional shower is still far more bearable than the dry, still heat experienced on the Costas in the south of Spain.
