Tenerife North Airport Overview
Tenerife North Airport is located in San Cristóbal de La Laguna which is 11 km by road from Santa Cruz which is the island's capital city. It can be easily accessed along either the TF-1 or TF-5 and is linked to the central Parque Nacional del Teide by the TF-24.
It is an inter-island hub as it connects all seven Canary Islands, and offers connections to the mainland Spain, Europe, and North America. The route between Tenerife North and Madrid-Barajas is the airport's busiest with an average of 40 flights per day handling over one million passengers a year.
Tenerife North Los Rodeos Airport is less well known and used a lot less by foreign travellers than Reina Sofia in the South. Most non-Spanish tourists arrive and depart via Tenerife South Airport.
In 2011 Tenerife North Los Rodeos Airport handled 4,095,103 passengers with 62,590 flight operations.
