Santander Airport Overview
Santander Airport is situated in the municipality of Camargo just 5 kilometres from the capital.
Santander is the capital city of Cantabria located on the northern coast of Spain between Asturias and the Basque Country overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. In the late 19th century Santander became the coastal resort El Sardinero which was frequented by the Spanish upper class. It has a great beach and promenade with the Magdalena Peninsula which are some of the main attractions for tourists.
The airport has been extended and reformed in recent years. It offers a new wireless internet service with access points in different areas: the departures lobby, restaurant area, boarding lounge and air-bridge module. Passengers with laptops or PDAs equipped with Wi-Fi technology will now have wireless access to the internet provided by Teléfónica de España.
Santander Airport's main air traffic is made up mostly of scheduled domestic and international flights. In 2011 the airport handled 1,116,398 passengers with 17,070 flight operations.
