Vueling and Ryanair Trying to Employ Spanair Staff

The airlines Vueling and Ryanair are already in contact with the redundant Spanair workers to offer them a job in keeping with their plans to operate more flights following the collapse of the Catalan carrier.

Workers for Newco, which is a company dependent on Spanair, say that many of them are rejecting the offers because they say they are low cost and do not compare to the conditions in Spanair, Iberia or Air Europa. Vueling and Ryanair are looking for people with experience but are not respecting their current contract conditions, as was agreed in the sector in a deal signed in 2011.

Spanair workers yesterday demonstrated in several of the main Spanish Airports to protest at the company’s closure which leaves them in limbo until the bankruptcy proceedings are settled.  The unions are considering calling a massive demonstration in Barcelona next Wednesday, 8th February.
