Iberia has cancelled 117 flights today in another 24 hour strike by SEPLA pilots who are protesting against the plans to set up a new low-cost carrier Iberia Express.
This represents 34% of the total number of Iberia flights today with most of the cancelled services being national. Others to Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Frankfurt, Berlin, Istanbul, Rome, Lisbon, Milan and Venice are also affected as well as long haul services to New York, Mexico, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo.
The next day of strike action is Wednesday February 29th when there is likely to be even more disruption as the pilots will be joined by the ground and cabin crew staff unions. They are also planning more strikes in March.
